Silk Floss Tree - Ceiba speciosa

One of the mythical plants of the Mayan world. It connects the three worlds: below (roots), earth (trunk), heaven (crown).

I’ve heard the thorns are to deter jaguars from climbing these beautiful giants. The lovely green bark makes for a unique addition to any garden. This malva family plant offers a fiber in its seedpod akin to cotton which has been used by many traditional people.
