Heliconia - Heliconia talamancana

I think of the heliconias as a very lush tropical plant (think Hawaii). However, this variety seems to thrive fairly well here in the Baja.
This particular variety sometimes gets confused with bird of paradise but although they are both in the order “zingerbales”, they are not even in the same family (so more distant than cousins.)
