Spiral Ginger - Costus spp.
Although not a cousin of ginger (i.e zingerbaceae), spiral ginger is in the ginger ‘order’.
Unlike many true gingers, this plant DOES not lose it’s foliage through the winter the way that some actual gingers do.
These gorgeous orange blooms delight many mornings in the summer in Baja. The foliage has an interesting shape and texture for the rest of the year.
